SIOUX CITY -- Mary J. Leuenhagen, 95, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, surrounded by her children to be with her Lord and the love of her life, August.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Mary was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Bloomfield, Neb. She was united in marriage to August Leuenhagen on Nov. 30, 1932, in Dakota City, Neb. Into this union were born eight children, Mary Ann Neal of Arvada, Colo., Carol (Bob) Balsley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carlene Clarke of LaHabra, Calif., Bill Leuenhagen of Boise, Idaho, Jim (Sue) Leuenhagen of Strasburg, Colo., Ginger Simpson of Sioux City, Randy (Mary Jo) Leuenhagen of Sergeant Bluff and Susan Stafford of Homer, Neb. She has 35 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary Kirsting; her husband, August; 10 siblings; and a great-grandchild, Brandon.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jerry Leuenhagen, Ben Leuenhagen, Bryan Leuenhagen, Kevin Leuenhagen, Tom Leuenhagen, Jason Link, Clint Essig, Mark Balsley, Josh Leuenhagen and Robert Balsley.
