Sioux City - Mary Ellen Lowder, 95, of Sioux City, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and vigil service at 5 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Mary Ellen was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Leonard and Rose (Maher) Erickson. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School.
She married Harry Lowder on July 7, 1978, in Portsmouth, Va. He died May 10, 1986.
She worked for Sioux Tools (Albertson Co.) in Sioux City from 1961 until October 1980.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include four nieces and two nephews, John (Cheryl) Erickson of Bellingham, Wash., Judith Petersen (Bruce Ellis) of Alto, N.M., Kathleen (Scott) Moses of Bellingham, Edward (Debra) Erickson of Roy, Utah, Constance (Christopher) Walker of San Francisco, and Christine Erickson (Bruce Dunbar) of Omaha, Neb.; and two stepchildren, Judith Van House of Waldorf, Md., and Janet (Roger) Sleezer of Cherokee, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother and his wife, Leonard (Helen Ann) Erickson; and a stepson, Dennis Lowder.
