Sioux City, IA – Mary J. Pedersen, 62, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at her residence in Sioux City, IA.
A memorial service will be 6:00 pm Friday, May 27, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Charter Oak Cemetery in Charter Oak, IA. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .
Mary Jane (Ferguson) Pedersen was born February 6, 1960, to Charles and Corene (Schmoll) in Tyndall, SD. She graduated from Charter Oak-Ute Schools in 1978. Mary attended St. Jo’s School of Nursing. She worked in nursing homes for a few years, convenience stores, and then went to work at Interbake Foods for 25 plus years.
Mary enjoyed spending time with friends going to movies and dinner, family time during holidays, birthdays, and Okoboji, but her biggest joy was her time spent with her grandsons, Jace and Daniel. She loved her weekends spent going to the park, the pool, on walks, and playing games with Jace.
Mary is survived by her grandson, Jace Pedersen of Sioux City; sisters, Nancy (Gary) Streck of Arthur, IA, Traci (Guy) Wright of Danbury, IA, Ann (Alan) August of Gordon, NE; three nieces; three nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; and a step-daughter, Vanessa Pedersen-Schonrock, and her son, Daniel.
A Memorial will be established for a Jace Pedersen College Fund.
