Mary Ann Rudersdorf (Donohue)

SIOUX CITY -- Mary Ann (Donohue) Rudersdorf, 93, formerly of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, in Lincoln, Neb.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary and parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mary Ann was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Bonesteel, S.D., to Patrick and Anna Donohue. She was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel. She graduated from Bonesteel High School in May 1936. She attended Duschesne College in Omaha from 1937 to 1938, then she transferred and graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1940. Mary Ann did post graduate study at Columbia University in New York City. She taught at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D.

Mary Ann married Dr. Howard Rudersdorf on June 14, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bonesteel.

Mary Ann was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Blessed Sacrament Women's choir, Blessed Sacrament Confraternity, and Blessed Sacrament St. Theresa Study Club. She also was a member of the Woodbury Medical Auxiliary, Sioux City Junior League, Sustainer, and P.E.O. Chapter DH. She was a charter member of the Carmelite Guild board and a Queen of Peace volunteer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her faith, family and education. She lived 93 years and always said, "I am on your side."

She is survived by a son, John and Sue Rudersdorf of Lincoln, Neb. and their children, Kate and Nic Wilson, John and Rita Rudersdorf and Allison; a son, Tom and Theresa Rudersdorf of Omaha and their children, Tom and Jenni and their three children, Ella, Claire and Tommy, and Jonathan, Andrew, Katie and Maggie; a son, Patrick and Elizabeth Rudersdorf of Omaha, and their children, Patrick and Morgan, Kealy and Grace; a daughter, Mary Ann and Andrew Tomlinson of Lincoln and their children, Kay and Chris; a son, Gregory Rudersdorf of Omaha; her sister, Catherine "Kay" Maxon of Stafford, Ariz.; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Rudersdorf of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Rudersdorf, M.D.; an infant son, Thomas Patrick; her parents, Patrick and Anna Donohue; brothers, Edmund and Parnell Donohue; and sisters, Ava Clare Honke, Patricia "Patty" Devoy, and Margaret Jean Gleeson.

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Heelan High School or Creighton University.
