Mary Margaret Titus, 81, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with Lorna J. Peters, Chaplain for Hospice of Siouxland, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary was born on Nov. 6, 1925, on a farm southwest of Barron, Wis., the daughter of Charles B. and Eva (Anderson-Brause) Petersen. As a baby, she moved with her family to Pierson, Iowa, in 1925. Mary and her family moved east of Tony, Wis., in 1939. She graduated from Glen Flora High School in Glen Flora, Wis. She then worked as a nanny in Wisconsin and Sioux City.
She married Jesse S. Titus on Jan. 19, 1952, in Sioux City. He died on June 19, 1995, in Sioux City. She was a housewife from 1952 to 1967. She then went to work as a dietary aide at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1974 because of health reasons.
She was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church, the Sunshine League, Pacific Rebekah Lodge 557 and the Salvation Army Home League. She was a 4-H leader in Wisconsin before moving to Sioux City. Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Dennis W. Titus Sr. and Charlene of Sioux City; two daughters, Ruth Satterwhite of Sioux City and Joan Criteser and her husband, Jack of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Titus of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Scott Schwebach, Dennis Titus Jr., Misty Titus, Corey Titus, Darcy Titus and Laurence Satterwhite; four great-grandchildren, Jesse J. Titus, Micheal and Sky Smith and McKenzie Satterwhite, all of Sioux City; five sisters, Alice Florke and Edna Florke, both of Sutherland, Iowa, Carol Abbiehl of Eau Claire, Wis., Mildred Petersen of Ladysmith, Wis., and Eunice Zietler of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Pierette "Pete" Titus of Sioux City and Edna Petersen of Mantika, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Allen Titus; a son-in-law, Larry Satterwhite; three grandchildren, Peter and Allisha Titus and Dustin Peake; two brothers, Fritz and John Petersen; a sister, Johanna Petersen; and several in-laws.
Pallbearers will be Scott Schwebach, Corey Titus, Darcy Titus, Dennis Titus Jr., Laurence Satterwhite and James Abbiehl. Honorary pallbearers will be Misty Titus, Mike Muecke and Ivan Abbiehl.
