Mary F. Van Waart

Mary Frances Van Waart, 59, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at her residence.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mary was born on July 9, 1954, in Sioux City, to Hans and Frances (Dimmig) Van Waart. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, East Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1972. She graduated from Morningside College in 1976.
Mary taught remedial reading and math in Onawa, Iowa, from 1976 to 1977. She then began teaching in the Sergeant Bluff-Luton District in 1977. Mary retired from teaching in 2010.
She was a member of NEE and SBLEA. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her Westie, Piper.
Those left to honor her memory include her brother, Doug (Lisa) Van Waart of Anamosa, Iowa; an uncle, Leo Van Waart of Sioux City; an aunt, Pat Dikeman of Sioux City; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be made to the Siouxland Humane Society.
