Mary M. Yaffee (Romang)

Mary M. Yaffee, 100, of Prairie Village, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Overland Park, Kan.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel in Sioux City.
Mary was born May 1, 1907, in Waverly, Ill., the daughter of Godfrey and Hannah (Skeehan) Romang. She was raised in Waverly and graduated from Waverly High School. She attended business college in Springfield, Ill. After school, she worked for a car dealership in Springfield.
On Sept. 4, 1933, she married Harold A. Yaffee in Franklin, Ill. They lived in Springfield, Ill., Chicago, Ill. and moved to Sioux City in 1945. Harold died on Aug. 2, 1990 in Sioux City. She moved to Prairie Village five years ago.
She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the church circle and activities.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Karen and Paul Martin of Prairie Village, Kan.; two grandsons and their wives, Jeffrey and Lisa Martin of Overland Park, Kan., and Christopher and Natalie Martin of Hinsdale, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Jeremy, Ronan and Moira.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Paul Martin Jr.; a brother; and two sisters.
