MaryAnn Frank, 78, of Sioux City, entered into heaven on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her residence after a short battle with cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. , at Morningside Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home.
MaryAnn was born on Sept. 1, 1935 in Sioux City , to Raymond and Etta (Johnson) Simeon. MaryAnn was raised in Sioux City , and graduated from Heelan Catholic School .
She was united in marriage to Ed Frank on April 30, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City . Ed and MaryAnn spent the first three years of their marriage in South Dakota . They moved to Sioux City and lived in town for 11 years. The last 45 years of their life were spent raising their family on the farm in Sioux City . She met Ed at Sunshine Grocery Store, where they both worked. MaryAnn later held positions at local restaurants and grocery stores throughout Sioux City . The last 33 years of her life were spent as CFO and secretary of Frank’s Asphalt Inc.
She gave to many charitable organizations throughout her life. Early in her life, she attended St. Francis and then transferred to Nativity Parish ,where she spent the next 30 years. She enjoyed baking for the Nativity guild. She had a strong belief in God and the Catholic faith.
MaryAnn loved to cook for her family; cinnamon rolls were everyone’s favorite. Throughout her life she enjoyed bingo, going to casinos, bowling, reading, playing her tablet, gardening, trivia and traveling. In addition, MaryAnn loved to play cards with family and friends, but was a terrible bluffer. Above all else, spending time with family was the most important thing in her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 58 years, Ed Frank of Sioux City; eight children, Dale (Jean) Frank, Cindi (Tim) Meyers, Keith Frank, Sue (Rob) Long, Sandy (Jake) McClure, Kurt (Lynn) Frank, Val (Ken) Maxfield and Jen (Harold) Mackey, all from the Sioux City area; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, one due this April; several stepgrandchildren, four sisters, Patricia and Arlen Wiggs of Sioux City, Marlene and Joe Kruse of South Dakota, Loretta and Don Bentson of Sioux City, and Ginger and Dewey Blatchford of Iowa; five brothers, Erwin Clouse of Florida, Raymond and Dee Simeon of Pennsylvania Chuck and Linda Simeon of Minnesota, Jim and Theresa Simeon of Nebraska, and John Simeon of Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents; in-laws;, and a great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be all of her grandsons.
The family would like to thank Hospice for their fantastic care and support.
