Matthew E. “Matt” King, 44, of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Matthew Earl “Matt” King, the son of Daniel and Diane (Hintz) King, was born Aug. 23, 1973, in Fort Riley, Kan. He graduated from East High School in 1992. Matt then worked for the Mighty Thomas Carnival, where he got to travel all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
On Aug. 27, 2011, Matt was united in marriage with Brandi Glover in Sioux City. He worked for various trucking firms before starting at Marx Trucking, where he stayed for 16 years.
Matt was a wanderer. He traveled extensively, and had an incredible sense of direction. Matt loved the outdoors, and would take long walks to explore nature. He enjoyed camping, landscaping, gardening, and pretty much anything outdoors. Matt liked to watch the Minnesota Vikings, NASCAR, and listen to heavy metal music.
Matt is survived by his wife, Brandi of Sioux City; his mother, Diane (Randy) Behrens of Sergeant Bluff; his father, Daniel (Judy) King of Le Mars, Iowa; his grandmother, Elsie King of Sioux City; his children, Jessica (Tyler) Hansen and their daughter, Shaynee of Sioux City, Zayne King of Churchville, Va., Taten Kluver of Beresford, S.D., Tanner Bonnewell of Sioux City and Taylor King of Sioux City; a brother, Troy (Wendy) King of Sioux City; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; Grady Marx, who was Matt’s employer, boss, and friend for the past 16 years, and with whom he had a very special relationship; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.
The family has requested that funeral attendees dress casually.
