MOVILLE, Iowa -- Maxine V. Waldman, 86, of Moville died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Moville Evangelical Church of North America, with Charles Polk officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville. Condolences may be sent online to

Maxine was born May 2, 1921, in Stevens, S.D., the daughter of Peter and Ethel (Roberts) Christensen. She attended school near Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1939. She continued her education at the National Business Training in Sioux City. She moved to California during the war, then returned to Sioux City.
She married Gerald Waldman on Dec. 27, 1945 in Dakota City. Together, they made their home in Sioux City for a short time before moving to Moville, where they have resided since.
She was an active member of Moville Evangelical Church of North America, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed cooking and loved shopping for her grandchildren. She was a grandma to all children she ever met.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Waldman of Moville; two sons, Darrell Waldman of Sioux City and Donald Waldman and his wife, Marlene of South Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Tim Pueppke of Oto, Iowa; five grandsons and wives, Brian and Dawn Waldman of Florida, Brent and Angela Waldman of Sioux City, Jeff and Mary Waldman of Sioux City, Phil Lytton of Des Moines and Jerod and Laura Lytton of Sioux City; nine great-grandchildren; her lifelong best friend, Alice Church of McCook Lake, S.D.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cliff and Harold Christensen; and four sisters, Mabel Watson, Grace Benedict, Helen Merritt and an infant sister.
