Maynard Floyd Kilpatrick Sr.

May 2, 1935 — November 1, 2017

Maynard Floyd Kilpatrick Sr. known to many as “Pat” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 peacefully in at his home with his loving family by his side after a short battle with cancer.
Maynard’s prayer service will be Friday, November 3rd at Christy Smith Morningside Chapel. Family will be present from 5-7pm and the prayer service will begin at 7:00pm. The funeral will be Saturday, November 4th at 2:00pm at Christy Smith Morningside Chapel. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery (Devotion B lot).
Maynard “Pat” Kilpatrick was born to Andrew and Hilda (Reyder) Kilpatrick on May 2, 1935 in Clear Lake, South Dakota. He was one of 8 children.
Maynard lived a simple life. While growing up he farmed, picked rock, milked cows, and all the fun things that came along with being a farmer. As a teenager he was a semi-truck driver who hauled cattle to Chicago, Canada, and Texas. As a young adult he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served 4 years. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma Washington. He was very proud to serve his country. After completing his stent in the military, Maynard returned to truck driving before working for Frank’s plastering in Sioux City, Iowa where he worked on many projects throughout the Midwest. At this point, Maynard became a member of the Sergeant Bluff voluntary fire department for many years. Maynard then worked for the city of Sergeant Bluff where he retired as maintenance supervisor. He then went to work for Utility Equipment and managed their Sioux City branch. Maynard retired permanently in 2004. After retirement Maynard enjoyed restoring his old tractors and spending time with his grandchildren.
Maynard met the love of his life, Martha, at Hall’s Café in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. She stole his heart and soon they were united in marriage on August 16, 1960. The newlyweds settled in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa where they raised their six children.
Survivors include his brothers; Donald (Betty), Leo, Marvin (Linda), his sisters Avis and June, children Susan (Randy) Sanderson, Keith (Chris) Kilpatrick, Tina (George, her significant other) Kilpatrick, Maynard (Renee) Kilpatrick, and Michelle (Ron), Willer. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christy (Curt) Schnee, Kimberly (Torrey, her partner) Leaver, Gregory Leaver, Megan (Curt) Harris, Samantha (Nate) Foltz, Steven Willer, Justine Cleveland, and Miranda Kilpatrick. Great grandchildren include Erika and Ethan Schnee, Ciara Foltz, and Sawyer P. Harris.
Maynard was preceded in death by his wife Martha, both his parents, Andy and Hilda Kilpatrick, and his sisters Elda Mae, Helen.
