MOVILLE, Iowa -- Melba Ida Hansen, 92, of Moville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Melba was born April 29, 1919, in Newcastle, Neb., the daughter of Gustav and Rosa (Bauman) Miille. She attended school and graduated from Newcastle High School.
Melba married Alvie J. Hansen on Nov. 24, 1937, in Sioux City. They made their home on a farm near Rock Branch, Iowa, until the early 1970s, when they moved to the Bronson, Iowa area. They moved to Moville in 1985. Melba worked over the years as a baker for Truck Haven, the Biltmore and Norby's, retiring in 1994. Alvie died in 1997.
Melba was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She loved baking and cooking for her family when she was able. She also loved the Chicago Cubs, gardening, her flowers, watching NASCAR and her cat.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristie and Mark Heger of Moville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Rosa Miille; her husband, Alvie Hansen; three brothers, Otis, Maurice and William; and two sisters, Muriel and Rose.
