SIOUX CITY | Melissa K. (Ernst) Brown, 34, of Newcastle, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, June 8, 2012, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident near her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Revs. Russell Senstad, David Zirpel and Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Missy was born on May 19, 1978, in Sioux City, the daughter of Scott and Brenda Ernst. She was baptized on June 11, 1978, at Faith Lutheran Church and confirmed on May 3, 1992, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, both in Sioux City. She attended Sunnyside Elementary, East Junior and East High School. She attended and graduated from Wayne State College in May 2000. She was presently working for Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company in Jackson. She had earned her certified public accountant certificate.
Missy met and later married Clint Brown on June 26, 1999, in Sioux City.
She enjoyed watching her husband's high school baseball teams and enjoyed the sports of golf and hunting with Clint. She had been the organizer of the family's Black Friday shopping sprees for many years. She was a shining light in many lives and shared her love of family, friends and four nephews.
She is survived by her husband, Clint; her parents, Scott and Brenda Ernst of Sioux City; a sister, Melanie Ernst of Pekin, Ill.; a brother, Gregory Ernst of Des Moines; grandmother, Darlene Ernst of Sioux City; her parents-in-law, Nick and Nancy Brown of Ponca, Neb.; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Hank and Melissa Brown of Denver, Colo., and Chopper and Andrea Brown of Spooner, Wis.; numerous grandmothers, aunts and uncles; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Vernon Ernst; maternal grandparents, Bud and LaJune Obrecht; grandfathers, Dale Brown and Clarence Wilson; and grandmother, Ruth Wells.
Memorial donations may be made to a scholarship fund that will be established in her name.
