SIOUX CITY -- Michael D. Anderson Sr., 59, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. The body was cremated. There will be no burial. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Michael was born March 11, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of Duane and Margarett M. (Pithan) Anderson. He graduated from high school in O'Neill, Neb. He was a self-employed cosmetologist.
Survivors include a son, Michael D. Anderson Jr. of Sioux City; two daughters, Sonja E. Winter of Des Moines and Kimberly J. Hodges of Sioux City; a brother, John Anderson of Le Mars, Iowa; two sisters, Cindee Lee M. Gapp of Cortez, Colo., and Vickee D. Plafcan of South Sioux City; six grandchildren; five nephews; and seven nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane V. Anderson and Margarett M. Carter; grandparents, Joseph and Bula Pithan and Carl and Edna Anderson; and a nephew, Heath R. Gapp.
