CUSHING, Iowa -- Michael M. Bahrke, 52, of Cushing died of natural causes Monday, March 31, 2008, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Sheryl Ashley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to

Michael was born Jan. 27, 1956, in Uchitomari, Okinawa, the son of Chester and Norma (Oberheim) Bahrke. He had spent most of his life in the Correctionville and Cushing areas. He graduated from Eastwood High School in 1974. He then attended Sioux Empire College and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years. He was currently employed as a driver for Mathers Construction.
He loved sports and attending games. He was a referee/coach and enjoyed golf, watching his grandkids in sports and other activities, Iowa Hawkeyes, cribbage, pinochle, playing cards with the boys, spending time with his family and making his famous hot wings.
He is survived by five children, Christina and Jason Still of Cushing, Craig Bahrke of Omaha, Cara and Tony Ashley of Correctionville, Ashley and Corey Joy of Correctionville and Nathan Bahrke of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Halle Still, Alec Still, Anteres Ashley, Arianne Ashley, Aziah Ashley, Ava Ashley and Makenzie Joy; a brother, Eric and Linda Bahrke of St. Joseph, Mo.; two sisters, Sharon and Louis Saladino of Cedar Park, Texas, and Jean Meyer of Sioux City; two nieces, Jessica Bahrke and Sara Bahrke and her baby, Sa'Rya; and three nephews, Christopher, John and Paul Saladino.
