SIOUX CITY -- Michael F. Fredrickson, 65, of Sioux City passed away Feb. 8, 2011, at a local nursing home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Michael was born June 13, 1945, in Sioux City, to Harvey and Florence (Christopherson) Fredrickson. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, obtaining three Purple Heart medals. He later served as a drill instructor in Fort Ord, Calif.
After returning from the service, he spent time in California. He finally returned to Sioux City in 1991. Michael was employed with various law enforcement agencies until his retirement in 2008.
He enjoyed cooking, conversations with family and friends, and his grandsons.
Survivors include a son, James and Sharon Fredrickson of Miramar, Fla.; two grandsons, Jaden and John; and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son.
