Michael J. Mullen, 69, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Mike was born on Oct. 5, 1945, in Sioux City, to Albert and Doris (Gales) Mullen. He graduated from Heelan High School and then moved to California.
Mike worked at Mount Zion Hospital and managed the kitchen and dietary program for more than 30 years. Mike also managed an apartment complex in California.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Mike was a member of lifelong learning at Western Iowa Tech, and enjoyed the trips he took with the group. He enjoyed painting and growing flowers including tulips and lilies.
Those left to honor his memory include his brother, John (Pam) Mullen of Dakota City; sister Kathleen (Edward) Heutinck of Lawton, Iowa; brother, Tom (Donna) Mullen of Sioux City; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jana Allen and Barbara Barber.
