Mildred Glenn "Millie" Sandbeck, the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Oslin) Sandbeck, was born on July 25, 1939, in Trent, S.D. She graduated from Central High School, and went on to work at J.C. Penney's as a clerk.
On June 8, 1958, Millie was united in marriage with Doyle Baker at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. She was primarily a homemaker, but was employed for many years at the physician clinic of Drs. Angelos and Regier in Canton, S.D.
Millie drew great enjoyment attending various sporting activities with her husband, Doyle, including Musketeer hockey games, dirt track races, and NAIA basketball and volleyball tournaments. In her downtime, Millie enjoyed spending time with her cat, Princess, and her neighbor's horses to whom she loved feeding carrots.
Millie is survived by her husband, Doyle of Dakota Dunes; daughters, Renee (Jim) Reeves of Sioux City, and Melissa (Anthony) Holmberg of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Heather Campbell (Joe Brown), Steve (Jenna) Campbell, Brent (Terra) Baker, Jordan and Bently Holmberg; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings, Sandy, Randy, and April.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; her parents; and a brother, Robert.
The family would also like to recognize the many dear, close friends from their neighborhood, friends from their dinner outings, friends from their previous home town of Canton, as well as the Musketeers Hockey Community, where the couple spent 37 years as season ticket holders.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
