Mildred Helen Hogen, 88, of Sioux City died Monday, July 9, 2007, in Sioux City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Wicks of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mildred was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Norfolk, Neb., the daughter of Willard and Helen (Barnett) Chesshir. She moved to Sioux City at a early age. She attended Sioux City Public Schools and Central High School.
On June 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Leonard Hogen in South Sioux City. Together, they raised their two children, Janice and Kirk, in Sioux City. She was a housewife her entire married life. She also had a few other jobs.
She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church. Her true loves included her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting and spending time in her gardens with her many various flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Hogen of Sioux City; a daughter, Janice Katres of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Kirk Hogen of Vermillion, S.D.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Hogen; a sister; and four brothers.
