Missie I. Smith, 46, of Moville died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at her home after a battle with cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Missie was born on June 5, 1969, in Walnut Creek, Calif., the daughter of Clayton and Cheryle (Cain) Simonsen. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Yankton, S.D., where she grew up and attended school.
Missie moved to Sioux City and on Sept. 27, 2003, married Patrick Smith in Moville. They made their home in Moville. Over the years, Missie worked as a day care provider.
She attended both Trinity Lutheran Church and New Hope Church in Moville. Missie's number one joy in life was her family and friends. She also enjoyed crafts, baking and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Pat Smith of Moville; four children, Aaron Wiste (fiancee, Alyssa Jensen), Kasidi Wiste, Levi Smith and Jewel Smith, all of Moville; parents, Clayton and Cheryle Simonsen of Sioux City; father- and mother-in-law, Lester and Dorothy Smith of Moville; two sisters, Cris Simonsen-Breffle of Crofton, Neb., and Teri (Jim) Schoepf of Lawrence, Kan.; brother-in-law, Andy (Beth) Smith of Sioux City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Diane Winbigler.
