SIOUX CITY -- Myrna Monona Eckerman, 62, of McCook Lake, S.D., formerly of the Morningside area of Sioux City, passed away following a lengthy illness Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by her family.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Andrew Sohm of St. Stephen Martyr in Omaha officiating. Condolences may be sent online to

Myrna was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Dorothy (Pixler) Davis. She was baptized into the Christian faith at the Methodist Church.
She was married to William R. Eckerman on June 30, 1962 in Mapleton, Iowa. She was a homemaker until her children were all in school. She then worked at IBP, Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart, where she was fondly remembered by her co-workers.
She was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, trips to Colorado as well as camping in Yankton, S.D.
She is survived by her husband, William Eckerman; three children and their spouses, Chris and Shelly Eckerman of Kempner, Texas, Cindy and Brian Murray of McCook Lake, S.D., and Charles Eckerman and Sherri Wittrock of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Timothy Eckerman, Kristina Eckerman, Billy Murray, Kristopher Eckerman and Dezeri Nelson; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie Murray and Nicholas Nelson; two brothers, Mike and Connie Davis of Rodney, Iowa, and Lewis Davis and Madelyn Gallup of Whiting, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Gilbert of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Dorothy (Pixler) Davis; a sister, Patricia Davis; and two sisters-in-law, Suzan Davis and Doris Delaney.
