Myron A. Ohrtman, 65, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at a local hospital.
A celebration of life visitation with the family will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in Latham Park in Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Myron was born on June 21, 1948, in Carroll, Iowa, to Richard and Florence Ohrtman. He grew up on a farm near Sac City, Iowa. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1966. He was a born farmer; those were his happiest days, when he was farming.
He married Ann Fortney in December 1970. They farmed and custom farmed in the Nemaha, Iowa, area for many years.
He was on the Nemaha City Council and was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed going with his friends Wally, Gene, and Jim to NHRA Drag Races. Other hobbies included watching NASCAR races, collecting toy farm tractors and woodworking.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ann; children, Mike (Sarah) and their children, Zoie and Aiden, Lisa (Jeff) Junck and their children, Kilie and Kaedy, Scott (Melanie) and their daughter, Emma; and Myron’s sister, Marie Hospelhorn.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
