McCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Nancy Lu Thompson, 72, of McCook Lake died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Johnston of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.
Nancy was born Dec. 11, 1938, Bakersfield, Calif., the daughter of Max and Agnes (Bohlkey) Wellington. She was raised in Nebraska until she moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa in 1948. She graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1957. She moved to Sioux City and attended the Lutheran School of Nursing and received her registered nursing degree in 1960. She worked in Sioux City and South Sioux City hospitals and nursing homes.
On Jan. 7, 1967, she married Lloyd P. Thompson in Elk Point, S.D.
She was raised in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, caring for people, going to Lake Travis in the summers and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of McCook Lake; seven stepchildren; her sister and her husband, Karen and Gary Hunt of Rock Rapids; nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jerry Wellington.
