Neal N. Harris, 92, of Sioux City died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Neal was born Sept. 4, 1922, at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Richard "Dick" and Fern (Carpenter) Harris. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Neal married Grace Williams on April 27, 1944, in California. Together they made their home in Sioux City. He worked for over 23 years at Clover Leaf Cold Storage, retiring in 1984. Grace died Oct. 29, 2011.
Neal loved spending time with his family. He was proud to be on the Honor Flight to Washington in 2009. Neal also enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, cars and trucks without a pattern. He was also a professional wrestling fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Dean of Sioux City, and Vicky (Jim) Moore of St. Paul, Minn.; a grandson, Rick Moore and Laurie Kauffman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a granddaughter, Melissa and Jon Barnett of Lincoln, Neb.; a great-grandson, Josh Barnett of Lincoln; two brothers, Gene Harris of Sioux City, and Dick and Irene Harris of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and a sister, Greta Kroll of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace; three sisters, Nita Edlund, Itha Hammond and Letha Newman; and a brother, Gale Harris
