Nicole Christine Merriweather
Nicole, 40, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive North, with visitation one hour prior. Refreshments to follow at the funeral home.
Niki was born on June 26, 1983, in Colorado Springs, CO to Annette (Toni) Jones and Jerry Merriweather. She graduated from West High School in 2001.
After high school she worked for agencies that assisted at risk youth. This line of work led her to Fairbanks, Alaska where she continued to work for family centered services and youth advocacy. Niki returned to Sioux City to be closer to family after her daughter Isabella was born. In 2016, her son Isaiah was born. Since then, she was determined to provide them with “a life they love.”
Niki worked tirelessly for her children to provide them with a wonderful childhood. Full of activities, road trips, and many happy memories. She was a devoted mother. Always encouraging her children to “be great.” She was a great friend and sister to many. Her laughs and words of encouragement will truly be missed.
Nicole is survived by her children, Isabella and Isaiah; her grandmother, Lillie Lesure; sisters, Andrea Jones and Katie Hillebrand; brother, Alex Jones and sister-in-love Demaree; aunts, Chris Jones, Dabbia (Robert) Phillips, Noel Merriweather, and Bobbi (Mike) Merriweather; uncles, Anthony (Monica) Merriweather and Bryant Merriweather; one great aunt, Blanchie Hardin; nephew, Nolen; nieces Tessa and Cassie; cousins, Emily and Christopher Capers-Jones, DaNei (Deanin) Willsun, d’Anyo (Tatiana) Willsun, and many other cousins. Also left to cherish her memory are many close friends that have turned into family.
Nicole is preceded in death by her mother, Toni Jones; father, Jerry Merriweather; grandparents, Darrell and Judy Jones; grandpa, Russell Lesure; great-grandparents, Mike and Phyllis Mulvihill and Elizabeth and Heuria Sneed; and a cousin, Micco Capers- Jones.
