Norlyn C. Anderson, 75, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Iowa. Visitation will be 12:15 p.m. until service time Friday at the church. A later lunch will follow the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Norlyn was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Rockwell City, the son of George and Ella (Kirk) Anderson. He graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1958.
He married Janice M. Schossow on Oct. 29, 1959, in Rockwell City. He worked for Fort Dodge (Iowa) Paint for five years, then began the career he loved working at Lumberman's Mill for 22 years. The family moved to Sioux City in 1982, and he continued to do what he loved, working for Sioux City Custom Woodworking for 26 more years. He retired in 2009.
He loved playing cards, board games, and participating in cribbage and bowling leagues. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always putting his family before himself.
He is survived by his two daughters, Christine Allard and her husband, Mike of Plymouth, Minn., and Kathleen Anderson of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Georgene and Don Schumann of Ames, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Ronnie and Judy Anderson of Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Tara and Jenna Allard of Plymouth, and Amy Lindstrom of Duncombe, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; and three brothers, Floyd, Bob and Delbert Anderson.
