Norma Jean Huseth, 85, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following an extended illness.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Nester of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Private family graveside services will be held. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service Saturday.
Norma Jean was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of Wilmer and Eureka Helen (Strand) McDougall. She was raised in Cleveland, N.D., and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1940. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, N.D.
She married William G. Huseth on Oct. 7, 1943, in Temple, Texas. William passed away Aug. 1, 2002. During the World War II years, she worked in the finance division of the Signal Corporation at Fort Hood and Camp Bowie, Texas. She then moved to Washington, D.C., where she continued working in the finance division of the Adjutant General's office. In 1952, she became a partner in Huseth Sales Company until her retirement in 2000.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Daughters of the Nile and Abu Bekr Women's Auxiliary. She was a member for more than 50 years of the Order of the Eastern Star Morningside Chapter.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and relatives. She loved all sports and was an avid bowler most of her life. She and her husband, "Wild Bill", loved to jitterbug and won many contests. She spent her life caring for others ahead of herself.
Survivors include her sons and their wives, Gordon and Diana of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Terry and Nancy of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Tamara and Vince Cline of West Des Moines; two brothers, Wilmer "Willy" McDougall of Spokane, Wash., and Charlie "Mac" McDougall of Beatrice, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Amy, Chad and his wife, Catherine, Lindsay, Shane, Andrew and his special friend, Jessica, and Christopher Huseth and Camryn Cline; a great-granddaughter, Brittany Huseth; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Nancy; a sister, Bernadine Heitz; and four brothers, Tom, Ted and twins, Bill and Bob McDougall.
