LAWTON, Iowa -- Norma Jean Sparr, 69, of Lawton died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with Chaplain Leland Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to

Norma Jean Sparr was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Sioux City, to Julius and Georgian (Couch) Sparr. She grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School. She was employed with Sunrise Retirement as a nurse's aide for 30 years.
She was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her Thursday coffee hour, family, social outings, her church, crossword puzzles, embroidering and singing.
She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Fred and Joyce Sparr of Hinton, Iowa, and James and Gail Sparr of Lawton; a sister and her husband, Lorna and Vaughn Paradise of Denver, Colo.; 13 nieces and nephews; 34 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 17 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
