Norman E. ‘Bud’ Schwarz
Norman E. “Bud” Schwarz, 84, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at a local care facility from natural causes.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Russell Senstad of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Bud was born Sept. 22, 1922, in rural Moville, Iowa, the son of Walter E. and Emma M. (Dorale) Schwarz. He graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1942. He resided on the family farm until 1961 when he and his dad moved to Sunrise Manor, Sioux City. He was one of the original residents of Sunrise Retirement Center. Prior to his stay at Sunrise, he assisted his dad on the family farm.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bud enjoyed sharing a great conversation with others, special outings with his family, like lunch out with his sister, and visits from his niece, Sharon Spelman from Florida who also took him for ice cream and rides when she came back. He also liked NASCAR racing. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Cubs.
Survivors include his sister Inez and her husband, Cecil Bottjen of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Margaret Schwarz of Anthon, Iowa; nine nieces and nephews, and several great niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alvin and Earl and Wayne in infancy.
