Norman 'Bud' Lavern "Bud" Miller

MOVILLE, Iowa -- Norman ‘Bud' Miller, 83, of Moville passed away Jan. 8, 2012 while on vacation in Modesto, Calif.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Norman ‘Bud' Miller was born May 16, 1928, in Oto, Iowa, the son of Manley and Etta (Newberry) Miller. He attended country school then graduated from Moville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Bud then joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea.
He married Kay Slattery on Feb. 11, 1954. They made their home in the Lawton, Iowa and Moville area. Bud joined the 185th Iowa Air National Guard and served for more than 23 years.
After retiring in 1982, Bud and Kay traveled throughout the United States. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing and traveling. Bud was always ready for a cribbage game and was often spotted at the old farts table at Misty's. Bud was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and was instrumental in starting the KCs in Kingsley, Iowa and Moville. Bud was an active member of the American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303 and Moville Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of Moville; daughter, Denise and Gary Boucher of Modesto, Calif.; son, Scott and Jill Miller of Colfax, Iowa; daughter, Diane and Casper Noz of Denair, Calif.; daughter, Deb and David Leckband of Moville; son, Steve and Shawna Miller of Waterford, Calif.; daughter, Dawn and Jim Orr of Sherwood, Ore.; 18 grandchildren, Matthew and Sheila Boucher, Mark Boucher, Kaitlin and Blake Sand, Wes and Jill Miller, Lindsay Miller, Stephanie Noz, Andrea Noz Huber, Josh and Kaylee Noz, Gina Leckband, Jake and Ashley Leckband, Kayla and Sutton Barcelou, Lisa Leckband, Sarah, Sam, Shelby and Sydney Miller, Anthony and Brian Orr; five great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Leo and Geri Miller of Moville.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald; and three sisters, Jewel, Genevieve and Vera.
