Norman Fred Zoss

JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Norman Fred Zoss, 81, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at a Vermillion, S.D., nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. The Rev. Charles Wolff will officiate. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Armour, S.D. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Norman was born on March 19,1931, in Manson, Iowa, the son of Ben and Augusta (Vosberg) Zoss. He was raised in Armour, S.D., and attended school there. Norman joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until 1954.
He married Delores Geidd in Luverne, Minn.; they later divorced. He moved to Sioux City in 1965 and to Jefferson in 1968. Norman worked as a foreman for Midwest Carriage Co. and then at CMI Load King as a forklift driver for 20 years. He retired in 1995.
He was a Lutheran. Norman enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling, especially going to Colorado and Las Vegas. Until recently, he enjoyed going on long walks.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Violet of Vermillion, S.D., and Craig Zoss and his fiancee, Leslie McCabe of Jefferson; a grandson, Colton; five brothers, Wally of Armour, Bennis and Donna of Adel, Iowa, Jerry of Commerce City, Colo., Larry of Elk Point, S.D., and Jim and Jeannine of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, LeeAnn Schuldt of Sioux City, and Shirley and Bill Misner of Aurelia, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Chuck, Marvin, Bill and Gary.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Zoss, Jeff Zoss, Mike Zoss, Dennis Zoss, Chris Zoss, and Randy Schuldt.
