Oran 'Steve' S. "Steve" Olson

Jefferson, S.D. - Steve Olson, 83, of Jefferson passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Wolff of Riverside Lutheran Church officiating, at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 5206 Military Road, in Sioux City. No additional services are scheduled. Oran Steve Olson was born April 15, 1926, in McCook Lake, S.D., to Ole and Berniece (Bruneau) Olson. He was baptized in the Catholic church in Jefferson. He attended Gibson country school through the eighth grade. He graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 1944. He had lived in the Jefferson area his entire life.
Steve and Martha Heuer were married in Elk Point, S.D. Martha passed away in 1975. He and Vonnas Morgan were married in Sioux City. Vonnas passed away in 1972.
He was a full-time farmer and worked part-time as a rural mail carrier and at Bosse Oil in Jefferson.
He is survived by his son, Gary Olson and his wife, Mary of Jefferson; a daughter, Jackie and her husband, Jack Eastman of Jefferson; grandchildren, Stacey and her husband, Todd Trobaugh of McCook Lake, S.D., Joshua Eastman and Troy Olson, both of Jefferson, Angela Olson of Sioux City, Shelby Olson of Jefferson and Justin Fortna of Oklahoma; and great-grandchildren, Tyrese Griffin-Uken and Tyra Griffin-Uken, both of Sioux City, Jackson Trobaugh of McCook Lake, Jayln Jensen of Homer, Neb., Brooke Olson of Jefferson, Alyse Trobaugh and Mitchell Trobaugh, both of McCook Lake, Jacob Fortna, Jeremiah Fortna and Mickaela Fortna, all of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wives, Martha and Vonnas.
