SIOUX CITY -- Patricia B. Alberts, 79, of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at a local care facility, surrounded by her daughters.
Memorial services will be 5 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Visitation with the family will resume following the service today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Patricia was born March 5, 1933, in Skowhegan, Maine, to Clifton and Yvonne (Michaud) Brown.
She married Dale Alberts on May 31, 1952, in Bangor, Maine. Later, they moved to Sioux City. She attended Morningside College, the University of South Dakota, and Wayne State College, where she attained her master's degree plus 30.
Patricia taught for 33 years in Sioux City at East Junior High School, teaching Spanish and English. She organized several trips to Spain with her students. She was truly an inspiration to her students by giving them the motivation to succeed and attain their goals.
She was involved in the National Education Association, various teacher's organizations, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. She loved working in her garden, spending summers in Maine, and spending time with family, especially picnics and holidays.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan and Bill Hoss of Sioux City, Diane Alberts of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Nancy and Ray McGaugh of Fayetteville, Ark., and Lisa and Jeff Pape of Clovis, Calif.; her grandchildren, Tiffany Attrill-Meek, Stacy Lindahl, Charity McClure, Nicole Whitlock, Jared and Nathan Linduski, Lindsay Greenleaf, Chad, Matthew, Zachary and Rachelle McGaugh, and Lauren, Erin, Haley and Olivia Pape; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray and Holly Brown; a niece; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved dog, Yash.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Sioux City Public Schools.
