Patricia M. Lowndes, 90, of Sioux City died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Patricia was born on Oct. 12, 1922, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ben and Edna (O’Shonessy) Walding. She attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School.
Patricia married Robert A. Lowndes on June 18, 1949. They made their home in Sioux City. Robert died on Oct. 17, 1997.
Patricia was the longest living member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was active at the church, serving with the Church Guild and Carmelite Guild. Patricia loved spending time with her family, cooking, shopping, reading, spectator sports and was in a sewing club for more than 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Peg Lowndes of Omaha; a son, Tom and Deb Lowndes of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Rose Lowndes of Sioux City; two granddaughters, Abby and Joe Strande of Eagan, Minn., and Meg Lowndes of Chicago, Ill.; a great-grandson, Alex Strande of Eagan; a sister, Bev Walding of Sioux City; and two brothers, Tom Walding of Norfolk, Neb., and the Rev. Gene Walding of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and three brothers, Terry, Phil and Bob Walding.
