Patricia Anne Martin, 72, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at

Pat "Patty" was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Concordia, Kan., to Vincil and Marie (Begnoche) Appleby. She was raised in Clyde, Kan., where she attended high school and graduated in 1962. After graduation, she moved to Sioux City where she attended Stewart's Beauty School.
She married her husband of 53 years, Paul, in 1963. They raised their four boys, Paul Jr., Jayme, Nicholas and Jacob.
Pat worked as a beautician her entire life. She finished her career at Countryside Senior Living, where she loved the staff and residents like her own family.
Pat loved anything that kept her close to her boys. She enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, fishing, card games and coaching baseball.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; sons, Paul (Marcy) Martin Jr. of Sioux City, Jayme (Kelly) Martin of Portland, Ore., Nicholas (Christie) Martin of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jacob (Virginia) Martin of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Brock Martin, Alexandria Martin, Sylvie Martin, Lucas Martin and Enzo Martin; two great-grandchildren, Moses Martin and Wilhelmina Martin; sister, Pamela (Larry) Lee of McKinney, Texas; and brother, Preston Appleby of Salina, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick; parents, Vincil and Marie Appleby; and her sister, Paulette Hood.
