Patrick Eugene Kenney, 75, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Patrick was born in Hartington, Neb., on Sept. 3, 1941, the son of Cecil and Rena (Bryant) Kenney. He moved to Bronson, Iowa, as a child and graduated in 1959 from Bronson High School. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served his country until 1964, when he moved to Sioux City.
He was united in marriage with Connie R. Smith on April 11, 1965, in Elk Point, S.D. Mr. Kenney had many jobs until he became purchasing agent for Dennis Supply, where he worked for many years, retiring in 2016. For several years, he also taught classes in heating and air conditioning at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Patrick enjoyed fishing, playing and singing with his guitar, and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of Sioux City; his children, C. Renee Verzani and her husband, Tom of Sioux City, Jay Kenney and his wife, Sharon of Sioux City, Justin Kenney and his wife, Rose of Milford, Neb., and Connie Jean Hazelwood and her husband, Brian of Plato, Mo.; his stepchildren, Terry Rolfes and his wife, Kristy of Sioux City, and Leslie Rolfes and his wife, Lisa of Sioux City; his 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joanie Moser of Bronson.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Ann Kenney and Bonnie Mitchell; and his stepdaughter, Cynthia Rae Rolfes.
