Paul E. "Pete" Hinds, 83, of Bronson, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Char Mac Assisted Living in Lawton, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elliot Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson, with the Rev. Cyndy Ripperger officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Pete was born on April 27, 1933, in Anthon, Iowa, to Willie and Alice (McNear) Hinds. He married Arlene Lower on Nov. 26, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.
Pete was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, parading with the ponies, restoring Model Ts, building stock cars, and always had coffee for the guys at the shop.
Survivors include his daughters, Paula (Everett) Gunn, Michelle Leisey, and Pam (Tom) Dirks; sons, Roger Hinds, and Craig (Lori) Hinds; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Chuck (Carol) Hinds; and a sister, Diane Sturgeon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; and a brother, Donald Hinds.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., Hospice of Siouxland, and Char Mac for the excellent care they gave Pete.
