Paul R Rice

Paul Richard Rice, 78 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Unity Point Health St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes-Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com .

Paul was born October 2, 1944, in Carthage, Missouri, to Lawrence and Myrtle (Straw) Rice. He grew up and attended Jasper Public Schools graduating from Jasper High School, Jasper, MO. After high school he worked for the local funeral home and drove ambulances. He later attended The Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Paul entered the US Air Force and served from 1966 -1970, when he was honorably discharged. Paul later worked as a salesperson and representative for the Dodge Chemical Company from 1974-1994, During that time he met and married the love of his life Cherry Angove. The couple had two children: Sara and Kari. In 1998 he began working for Jolly Time Popcorn and retired in 2006.

Paul is survived by his wife Cherry L. Rice of Sioux City, two daughters; Sara (Jake) Worley of Garland Texas, Kari (Tyler) Burnham of Sioux City, seven grandchildren; Landon, Mackenzye, Zoe, Ali, Ethan, Hannah, and Rylee, two nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Myrtle Rice, and a brother, Larry Rice.
