Philip T. Kevane

Philip Thomas Kevane, 95, of Sioux City died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Cemetery at Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Philip was born on July 26, 1918, in Rembrandt , Iowa. He was the son of Michael and Sarah (Distel) Kevane. He was raised on the family farm in the Rembrandt area and graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1936. He farmed prior to his move to Sioux City in the late 1950s. In Sioux City, he worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Phil's volunteer work included Meals on Wheels, Hospice of Siouxland and carpentry at Trinity Heights.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Lillian) Kevane of Texas, and sister-in-law, Kathryn Kevane of Arizona. He was a cherished special uncle to Mary Lyn Lynch and Dr. Ken Van Asma and his other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rosalyn Van Asma; his brothers, Monsignor Eugene Kevane, Clement Kevane and Francis Kevane.
