Phyllis "Sally" Ludwig, 89, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Phyllis "Sally" was born Feb. 9, 1918, in Moville, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Cooper) Riser. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Sioux City, where she attended Sioux City Public Schools.
She married Paul Ludwig on Feb. 23, 1936. Together, they farmed until the 1950s. She then worked for Montgomery Wards, Palmer Candy and later at Zenith, retiring in 1978. She then worked for Weller's Fishing Tackle. Paul died April 25, 1994.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was active teaching Sunday School and Bible School. Her life's loves were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing and cooking, her specialty was her pies.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Dick and Velma Ludwig of Sioux City, Karen and Rich Munson of Omaha and David and Shelly Ludwig of Sioux City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Hass of Sioux City; and a brother and his wife, Gerald and Kathryn Davidson of Princeton, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and two brothers, Roy and Jack.
