Phyllis J. Van Meter, 88, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sioux City.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A private inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born on May 21, 1927, in Bronson, Iowa, to James and Gladys (Tague) Bridgett. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Levi Van Meter in 1954 in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1991.
Phyllis enjoyed reading and traveling. She and her husband would take trips to Minnesota to fish. Phyllis was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and had a fondness for animals, especially cats.
Those left to honor her memory include her sister-in-law, Vivian Bridgett of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael; daughter, Bridget; and siblings, Donald, Robert, and Maxine.
