Phyllis L. Weems, 77, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Trinity Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Phyllis Lynn Weems, the daughter of John and Della (Sheets) Wilson, was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Sioux City. She graduated from East High School.
On Sept. 8, 1962, Phyllis was united in marriage with Don R. Weems at Inglewood, Calif. She was employed as a manager at the Morningside College Bookstore for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Don died Dec. 18, 1993.
Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Quota Club.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Jay (Jami) Weems of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; a daughter, Stacey (fiancé, Ted Hinricks) Weems of Salt Lake City, Utah; two granddaughters, Jordan and Mackenzie Weems of Pleasant Hill; a half-sister, Marilyn Hollenbeck of Sioux City; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; a baby daughter; and a sister, Shirley Wilson.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association.
