Patsy was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Ella Mae Nelson. Patsy graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1964. After high school she worked as a long distance telephone operator at Central Telephone Co.
Patsy married Richard Davison on April 3, 1966. They made their home in Maryland while Richard served four years in the U.S. Navy. Daughter Stacey was born in 1968. Patsy's most wonderful moment was when she became a mother. Being foster parents she was "mom" to 24 children over the years. During that time they were able to adopt their son, Brian and were so happy to have a son.
Patsy worked as an Instructional Teachers Assistant for Sioux City Schools. Most of the 24 years were at Whittier Elementary until she retired in 2010. Patsy was best recognized as the Crossing Guard on Lakeport as she helped students cross safely to and from school.
Patsy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities were the best times. Taking her family to Branson to The Lennon Sisters Christmas show was a memory to cherish. Patsy had been a fan of The Lennon's since she was 9 years old. Always a Hawkeye Fan, she enjoyed Hawkeye basketball and football games.
Patsy was forever grateful for her cousins, Sheri Luepke and Janet Anderson for planning and continuing for 25 years the annual BLUNT sisters and daughters overnight and outing with so many wonderful memories and happy times. Patsy enjoyed these special times with her mother, aunts and cousins.
Those left to cherish Patsy's memory are her loving husband of 49 years, Richard Davison who was always by her side; her daughter, Stacey and son-in-law, Jeff Lewis of Sioux City; grandchildren, Ashley, Alec and Alee Lewis of Sioux City; son, Brian Davison of California; foster son, James Shinkle of Sioux City; godchildren, Ellen Layton of Billings, Mont., Jodi Chada of Fort Dodge, Tobie Andrews of Wichita, Kan., and Jarred Severide of Fort Mill, S.C.; brother, Richard (Karen) Nelson of Fort Dodge; nieces, Jodi (Joe) Chada and Jana Nelson of Fort Dodge, and Krista (Tony) Mullenger of Oklahoma; nephews, Jeff Nelson of Fort Dodge, and Michael Davison of Ames, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Jack (Pat) Blunt of Fort Dodge, Barbara (Gene) Kutz of Twin Lakes, Iowa, Sharon Hendrickson of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Virgie (John) Fey of Humboldt, Iowa; and several cousins, who all gave her strength and support in her journey fighting cancer.
