MOVILLE, Iowa -- Ray Everett Ragan, 81, of Moville died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Ray was born March 12, 1929, in Moville, Iowa, the son of Clinton and Marie (Bliesner) Ragan. He was raised in Moville and graduated from Moville High School.
Ray married LaVonne Saxen on Oct. 29, 1950. They made their home in Moville, where Ray worked for Huntings Grocery and then for Swift Packing in Sioux City. He later custom combined and farmed, doing some side work for Simonson's, which later became Terra. LaVonne died June 14, 2000.
Ray was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the Masons and the Eagles. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge. When Ray was younger, he drove stock car No. 76. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lisa and David Brosamle of Moville; two sons and their wives, Brian and Connie Ragan and Dennis and Candy Ragan, all of Moville; nine grandchildren, Heather and husband, Tony Marx, Dustin and wife, Lindee Brosamle, Wendy and husband, Josh Ruhrer, Dirk, Amos, Jada and Jacob Brosamle, Brandon Ragan and Brandie Ragan; 16 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Beth Petersen of Moville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Travis Ragan; and two sisters, LaVonne Schmidt and Bernice Ragan.
