Moville, Iowa - Raymond L. Rath, 89, of Kingsley, Iowa, formerly of Moville, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Raymond was born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Moville, to Fred and Clara Minnie (Bunning) Rath. He grew up and attended school at Woodbury Central, graduating in 1940. He worked for Swift and Company for 40 years as a meat cutter, retiring in 1984.
Raymond married Violet Duragan on Sept. 30, 1944. The couple had two children, Rae Joann and Randy. Ray and Violet were inseparable; if you saw one, you saw both of them. Violet passed away on July 9, 2008.
He was a compassionate, loving yet stubborn man who greatly loved all his family. Raymond enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, playing cards, doing yard work and keeping a clean car.
Survivors include a daughter, Rae Joann Redding of Moville; a son and his wife, Randy and Linda Rath, Sioux City; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Bernice Wilson of Mapleton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet; and son-in-law, William Redding.
