Raymond Lynn "Sam" Parker Sr.

Sioux City - Raymond "Sam" Parker Sr., 79, of Sioux City entered into heaven on Aug. 19, 2013, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Sam was born on May 5, 1934, in Blencoe, Iowa, to Charles and Rose (Sneathen) Parker. The family moved to Craig, Mo., in 1937 and then to Sioux City in 1950.
He was united in marriage to Cheryl Carver on April 13, 1985, in Sioux City. Sam was self-employed, owning a tree service, wrecker service, and also worked construction.
Sam loved spending time with his grandkids, gardening, his flowers and roses, and playing cribbage.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cheryl; sons, Sammy (Johna) Parker, Charles (fiancee, Rosie) Parker, and David Parker; daughters, Barb (Tim) Mingo, and Stacey (fiance, Oscar) Parker; other children and stepchildren; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Rick, Larry, and Jerry Carver; sister-in-law, Linda Carver; brothers, Charles "Buddy", Lloyd, and Lyle Parker; sister, Charlene; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, David, and Gerald Parker; and father and mother-in-law, Hank (Marge) Carver.
Memorials may be made to the family.
