Reta A Lingle, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at a local care facility.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Reta was born on March 21, 1940, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Carlson) Adams. She grew up in the Charter Oak, Iowa area. She and the family moved to the Riverside area of Sioux City, where they made their permanent home.
She worked at Zenith Corporation, had her own upholstery business and worked the night shift at 7-11 for 17 years. Reta cared for many children over the years as a foster parent.
Reta enjoyed doing crafts and took great pride in decorating her home. She also enjoyed gardening and, as well as feeding the birds that frequented her home.
She is survived by her children, Mark and Pam, Bret and Sue, Darla and Mike, and Jeff; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Lola; and a brother, Ardell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Karen.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Holy Spirit Retirement Home for the wonderful care they provided to Reta during her stay there.
