Richard ‘Dick Fredericksen Sr.
Richard "Dick" Fredericksen Sr., 65, of Sioux City died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his residence in Sioux City.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at McCook Cemetery at North Sioux City with Pastor Dan Anderson of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.
Richard was born on Nov. 17, 1941, in Sioux City, the son of Raymond Edward and Jennette Jean (Gamel) Fredericksen. He was raised in Sioux City. As a teenager, he moved to California, attending school in both places. He later moved back to Sioux City and resided here for most of his life. He was a welder and later operated his own tree service. He was primarily self-employed throughout his working career.
He married Sandra Kay Farrell in Sioux City.
He was baptized into the Methodist faith. Dick enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, creating things out of metal and building campers. He had an excellent sense of humor and enjoyed the simple things in life like spending time with family and friends, and the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Fredericksen of Sioux City; five sons, Dale and Lisa Church of Sioux City, Richard Jr. and Tanya Fredericksen of Sioux City, Matthew Fredericksen of Searcy, Ark., Daniel Fredericksen of Sioux City and Lee and Raqual Fredericksen of North Sioux City; five daughters, Barbara Foster, Connie and Jeff Ryan, Terrie Kubly, Cheryl and Richard Hansen and Julie and Scott Jeffords, all of Sioux City; 45 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Fredericksen of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Robert Fredericksen and Gerald Fredericksen, both of Sioux City and Randy Fredericksen of North Sioux City; and a sister, Beverly Meyers of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ricky Fredericksen.
