Richard H. Grefe, 73, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Cushing Cemetery, Cushing, Iowa. A celebration of life gathering will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the home of Merlyne Smith, 5430 Stone Ave., Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Richard was born Sept. 29, 1934, to Emil and Ella Grefe. He and his brother, Don, grew up on the family farm in Cushing. He graduated from Wayne State College and began teaching English in Garretson, S.D.
We remember Dick: Flag - served in the U.S. Marine Corps, loved this country, was always ready for a political debate; Fragrance - de Roeschiele, proud, independent, noble, generous; Fish fry - over 30 trips to Canada fishing with friends; Family and Friends - the deep love he had for family and friends; Fir Tree - everlasting love of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his brother, Don Grefe; three nieces; and a nephew.
