Richard Allan Morse Sr.

SIOUX CITY -- Richard A. Morse, 81, of Chino, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Chino Valley Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Richard was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Turin, Iowa, the son of the late Gene Morse and Olive (Leff) Morse. He served in the Army National Guard and achieved the rank of company commander.
Richard married Glennis DuBois on Oct. 21, 1951. He moved to Sioux City. He was employed with Mid-Con Equipment for 40 years. He started with the company as a mechanic and worked his way up in the company to the position of salesman.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he also sang in the choir. He was a member of the Attica Masonic Lodge 502 of Sloan, Iowa. He served on the Ditch board. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, and wintering in Tucson, Ariz. His greatest loves in his life were his wife, farming and time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Survivors include his wife, Glennis of Sioux City; a son, Mr. Richard A. Morse of Chino, Calif.; daughters, Debra and Tom Stowers of Onalaska, Wis., and Kathleen and Mark Nordgren of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Lisa, Megan, David, and Michael; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Morse and Roger Morse; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Hetrick-Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant granddaughter; and a brother, Gary Morse.
Memorial may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association and the Sioux City Humane Society.
